Ooley back in jail after threats
Making harassing phone calls has put accused New Year’s Eve shooter Pam Ooley behind bars until her trial this fall after the court revoked her half million dollar bond Monday.
Meanwhile, the woman who said Ooley was harassing her by continually calling her and her family was overcome by the courtroom drama and collapsed after leaving the witness stand. She was taken to the hospital to be checked out while Ooley was led from the courtroom to Warren County Jail.
Ooley, 46, is charged with wounding two people on horseback on New Year’s Eve during a confrontation with a group of riders on Airport Lake Road. Ooley shot one victim in the stomach and the other in the arm with a rifle.
Mrs. Ooley has been free on $500,000 bond for several months. Her bond had numerous conditions which amounted to her being under house arrest. However, Circuit Court Judge Bart Stanley learned Mrs. Ooley had left to run errands, one of which took her to a local pharmacy for a prescription where the victim in the phone harassment complaint is an employee. The victim said Mrs. Ooley kept harassing her and her family for rides and help after she had initially tried to assist the accused shooter due to their family ties.
The victim said she had told Mrs. Ooley to stop calling her and her family, but to no avail. She said instead of stopping, Ooley become angry and placed the victims in fear for their safety. Mrs. Ooley was to have been in court on the bond question last week but the hearing was delayed until Monday so she could undergo a medical procedure.
With her bond revoked, Mrs. Ooley will remain behind bars until either she enters a plea agreement, which could come July 23, or she goes to trial on the attempted murder and aggravated assault charges Sept. 17.
