Superior Walls to appear on ‘Extreme Makeover’ tonight
If you recall, it was two months ago I told you about our local Superior Walls plant getting to appear on the season finale of ‘Extreme Makeover.’ The day has finally arrived and that special two-hour finale takes place tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. on ABC.
‘I’ve never been a part of anything where the spirit of cooperation was so high,’ said Superior Walls president Stacey Harvey. ‘We knew what we had to do and how it would all come together and our crew went down there and we looked like heroes. It was the first time ‘Extreme Makeover’ tried to build two houses in one week and we were just exhausted. We worked two 18-hour days.’
For folks unfamiliar with ‘Extreme Makeover,’ the show picks a family to feature and that family is sent away on vacation for a week. When they return, their home is completely transformed into a thing of beauty.
In the case of tonight’s season finale, the two structures to be built were both in the New Orleans area. In addition to Stacey, six members of his local workforce made the trip ‘ Joey Bradford, Jeff Turner, Rickey Cantrell Sr., Clyde Kirby, Eddie Clendenon and Henry Key.
All the time and materials was 100 percent donated by Superior Walls, which was one of only two crews to work on both projects. A house and a church were built from the ground up in seven days.
‘We’re out there and you’ll be able to see us,’ said Stacey when asked about how prominently Superior Walls would be featured on the show. ‘We’re not the focus, but we’re there. If anyone wants to watch, these people have really good stories to tell.’
Stacey said having construction crews thrown together from all over the country made completing the projects in lightning-quick fashion even more challenging.
‘When you have hundreds of people who have never worked together before, the biggest problem we had was effective communication,’ said Stacey.
‘Extreme Makeover’ fans won’t want to miss tonight’s show. Even people who don’t watch the show might want to tune in to see Warren County workers in action.
