Tigers, Cubs roll to victory
Action Monday night in the boys’ 9- and 10-year-old baseball league saw the Tigers of Sweeton Home Improvement roll past the D.M. Simpson and Company Reds 10-6 on the Hoover Millraney field.
Adrrien Lusk picked up the win for the Tigers working all six innings while giving up four runs on five hits with seven strikeouts. The Reds used three different pitchers as Jordan Bonner took the loss working two innings, giving up two hits and four runs. Garrett Bond worked one inning and gave up two hits and four runs while Hayden Jennings saw three innings of work, giving up two hits and two runs.
The Reds scored one run in the bottom of the first, one run in the fourth and two runs in the sixth. The Tigers sent five runs to the plate in the top of the fifth, one in the fourth and four runs in the sixth.
For the Tigers at the plate, Devon Terry had two hits. Malik Linder, Lusk, Ryan Mellons and Tristian Shadix had one hit apiece.
Josh Clark collected two hits for the Reds. Bond, Bonner and Jennings added one hit each.
In the second game of the night the Custom Granite Cubs shut out Phillip Carter Realty 14-0. Holden Baker and Matthew Savage combined for the no-hitter for the Cubs. Matt Carter, Darren Hicks and Dylan Madison gave up a total of six hits.
The Cubs scored three runs in the top of the third, one in the second, three in the third and seven in the fourth and final inning.
Baker and Dylan Tubb had two hits each for the Cubs. Ethan Phillips and Savage added one hit each.
