Clyde Raymond Carter Jr., 84, of McMinnville died Wednesday, May 14 at his residence.

He was born March 29, 1924 in Carterville, Ill., and was preceded in death by his parents Clyde Raymond Sr., and Nell Louise Porter Carter. Mr. Carter was a retired superintendent with the local Powermatic Plant, a World War II / U.S. Marine veteran, and a member of First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife Faye Carter, children Olivia Anne and (Tony) Myers of Morrison, Gail Denise Thompson of McMinnville, Dennis Raye Carter of Springfield, Ohio, Col. Frederick Lindsey and (Reta) Carter of Carmel, Ind., brothers Phillip and (Loraine) Carter of Palmerdale, Ala., and Leo Rex Carter of Hollywood, Ala., eight grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Robert H. Case and Dr. Steve Angus will officiate. Military Grave Rites will be administered by American Legion Post 173 and VFW Post 5064 directly following the service at McMinnville Funeral Home. The Carter family will receive friends today from 3 to 5 p.m., and again on Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.

Interment will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 19 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville, Ala.
