What readers are saying online

What online readers are saying about McMinnville city administrator David Rutherford’s idea to end city contributions to non-profit organizations:

‘I completely agree with Mr. Rutherford. These charities have other potential sources of funding. They can appeal directly to the community for charitable donations and also apply for grants. Bringing in new jobs must be our No. 1 priority as a community.’

‘I think we should cut out the city administrator’s position then use that money for doing the research. Let the mayor do his job or replace him.’

‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘

‘There is definitely something broken in McMinnville that needs to be fixed. Mr. Rutherford’s idea should be looked into. Also, tax dollars should be spent to maintain and improve government services, not donated to charities. If I want to donate to a charity, that’s my business and not some elected official’s.’
