A Christian singles fellowship group is preparing for its first meeting at 5 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church fellowship hall. Christian singles of all denominations are encouraged to attend. Plans for the first meeting include watching the Super Bowl.

A chili luncheon will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Feb. 6 at the county administrative building on Locust Street in the Magnolia Room. Cost is $5 per person. The event is sponsored by the RSVP program.

The Sweetheart Pancake Breakfast sponsored by the Warren County Lions Club will be held from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m., Feb. 9 at Applebee’s. Cost is $5 for an all-you-can-eat breakfast and tickets may be purchased at Dr Pepper, Newby’s RV, or at the door.

LBJ&C Headstart, which is a free program, is taking child enrollment applications for 3-5-year-olds at its Midway and Brookside locations. For information call Rosemary at 686-2098, or Tammy at 668-7043.

Celebrate Recovery meetings with a Christ-centered 12-step program will be held each Monday from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Covenant Baptist Church on Manchester Highway. For information, call 212-2996. Child care is provided.

AARP is offering a tax aid program free of charge for taxpayers of middle and low income and seniors 60 and older. Anyone who needs help preparing their taxes should bring all pertinent tax papers such as W-2, 1099 interest and dividend statements. Appointments are necessary and may be made by calling 473-6559. The service will be available beginning in February at the Senior Center on Morrison Street.

Healing Hearts is looking for mentors to help children. Those wishing to help mentor a child for at least one hour a week should call 474-HOPE.
