WCHS hoops squads back on court tonight-Sparta games rescheduled for Feb. 11

Old Man Winter apparently isn’t a hoops fan, at least not as far as Warren County is concerned.

The Pioneers’ and Lady Pioneers’ games with White County were originally scheduled for Tuesday, and then re-scheduled for Wednesday evening after icy weather threatened the area.

Unfortunately, the contests were once again postponed on Wednesday, and will now be played Monday, Feb. 11, as the final home game on the Warren County schedule.

The doubleheader against the Warriorettes and Warriors will now be the Senior Night contests for Warren County’s squads, with members of both teams’ senior classes recognized during a special ceremony. Senior Night was originally slated for Feb. 8, against DeKalb County.

After a seven-day layoff, the Pioneers and Lady Pioneers will return to action tonight, with a District 7-AAA doubleheader at home against Lebanon.

Both Warren County squads will be looking to avenge losses when the Blue Devils and Devilettes come calling, as they were swept in Lebanon during their previous meetings on Dec. 14.

In the girls’ game from earlier this season, Lebanon’s London and Icelyn Elie combined for 15 points each, and Ebony Marshall added 13 as they waltzed to a 60-39 victory over Warren County’s girls. The Pioneer boys fared even worse, falling 73-40 to a Blue Devil team which was led by Casey Nunley’s 19 points and Xavier Smith’s 18.

Warren County’s girls enter tonight’s contest with a 7-11 record (2-6 district), while the boys are 3-15 overall and 0-8 in league play.

In other action tonight involving District 7-AAA teams, Riverdale visits crosstown rival Blackman, White County travels to Cookeville and Oakland plays host to Siegel.
