2007 TOP 10 STORIES OF THE YEAR-6. Movie filmed downtown

It began in April with casting at Capalano’s. And it ended in early June when the final scene was shot in Warren County.

During its over two weeks of local filming, the movie ‘Tenebrous’ was the talk of the town. Now there’s more recent news about the soon-to-be released movie. It has a new name.

Gone is ‘Tenebrous,’ and in its place is ‘The Cursed.’ Lead actor Brad Thorton revealed the name change yesterday.

Thornton said movie production is complete and the next step is to take ‘The Cursed’ around to movie executives to see if they’re interested in buying the film. Thornton mentioned MGM, Sony and Miramax as three companies he plans to approach.

‘They watch the film and if they say they want to buy it then we start negotiations,’ said Thornton. ‘For the theatrical release, we want to take the movie back to McMinnville and have it premier there. It looks really great and I know everybody there is going to be proud of it.’

‘The Cursed’ features renowned Hollywood actors like James Marshall, Thornton, and brothers Louis and Costas Mandylor. It was directed by Joel Bender. The movie features a monster that terrorizes a small town, but that theme is also intertwined with a love story.

Most noticeably, filming took place on Main Street where the street was closed to accommodate production. Scenes were shot on Main Street itself, at Magness Library, at the Chamber of Commerce, and on the steps of First Presbyterian Church.

Local residents can be seen throughout the film as extras. A few even earned small speaking roles.
