2007 THE YEAR IN LOCAL SPORTS-5. WCMS boys win CTC tourney

Old coaches will tell you, it’s hard to defeat a team three times in the same year.

In early 2007, the Warren County Middle School varsity boys basketball team proved that axiom, as they avenged two losses to Sparta to win the tournament title in the Central Tennessee Conference.

Tied at 13-11 at the half, the Pioneers held their ground over the final two quarters, winning the tourney crown with an eventual 30-27 victory.
