2007 THE YEAR IN LOCAL SPORTS- 3. Hamilton resigns during season
In early September, WCHS girls soccer coach Keith Hamilton resigned his position just five games into the fall season.
Hamilton, who had just began his fifth season at the helm of the Lady Pioneers, coached both the boys’ and girls’ teams during his career at Warren County.
‘I appreciate the opportunity that was given to me to be the coach, and I wish the best for the team and the school,’ he said upon his resignation. ‘I preached to the girls that you can always find an excuse for failing, but the people who are successful will find a way to overcome their obstacles and not let them be an excuse. If I am the cause for the failings of the soccer team, then I know how to fix that problem. So I have removed myself from being the excuse for failure.’
Boys’ coach Matt Jackson was installed as the team’s interim head coach, and the squad finished the season with just two wins.
