TO THE EDITOR: It’s a shame our city officials don’t seem to care about the rise of needed jobs in McMinnville. A lot of people here have to travel to other counties for work. We all have to live so why can’t we get jobs here for the residents of McMinnville? Not everyone can work in a restaurant or retail. Instead of building another school or fixing up Main Street or raising more taxes, shouldn’t we have jobs so we can pay for these things? Will McMinnville become a ghost town? With places closing down and people leaving, don’t city officials feel this town is missing opportunities? What kind of future do our kids have when their parents can’t find work? Even retirement communities need jobs. Older people need to feel needed too, but Social Security can’t pay everything. Sherry Luna Linkley Street McMinnville
