13-under par wins senior scramble at Collins River G.C.

Scarmble action last week at the Collins River golf course saw the team of Bobby Newby, Jerry Simmons, Ralph Bess and Charles Boatman card a score of 13-under to win the Wednesday senior scramble. Finishing second with a score of 9-under par was the team of Allen Hitchcock, David Greene, Billy Pitmon and Robert McCormack. After going to the scorecard the team of Buddy Layne, Gay Smith, Jasper Adkins and Charles Henson placed third after also carding a 9-under.

Closest to the pin on No. 4 was Jack Winn and Monroe Oakes hit his shot closest to the hole on No. 7.

On Thursday Ray Magourik, Wade Renstrom and Terry Underhill turned in a 7-under to win first place. Second place went to the team of Ryan Rigsby, Bryan Jones, Bob Flanders and Webber Cantrell with a 6-under.

Friday afternoon in the couples scramble, Errol Spitzer and Betty Allen turned in a one under par for first place. Wade Renstrom and Michelle Dodson shot an even par for second place.

The Collins River golf course will be holding the second annual Troy Jones Memorial Golf Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 8. Cost for the four-man scramble is $75 per person or $300 per team. For more information contact Collins River at 668-7749.
