Pregnant teen charged with killing parents

KNOXVILLE (AP) ‘ A pregnant 15-year-old charged with her boyfriend and another man in the fatal shootings of her father and stepmother returned to a juvenile lockup Tuesday after a judge refused to release her.

Investigators said the victims, both killed Friday, disapproved of the relationship between the girl, Amanda McGhee, and Andrew Brian Mann, 21.

Juvenile Court Judge Tim Erwin ordered McGhee held without bond after informing her at a morning hearing that she was charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

“She did cry a little bit, not hysterical,” said Darrell Smith, director of juvenile court in Knox County.

Smith said Susan Shipley of Knoxville was appointed to be McGhee’s attorney.

Smith said McGhee would be held in general juvenile detention pending another hearing.

“They probably will have a further detention hearing in the next week or so,” he said.

McGhee, Mann and Gordon Kirkland, 23, were arrested on murder charges Monday.

Investigators believe Mann shot Terrance McGhee, 60, in the back of the head around 9:30 a.m. Friday. Authorities said they think Amanda McGhee, his daughter who is pregnant by Mann, let her boyfriend in the house in Solway, just west of Knoxville.
