The Warren County boys? basketball staff will be offering free fundamental instruction for present sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade boys in the county not presently playing a school sport (baseball, soccer, track, tennis, or golf).
It will be held each Tuesday and Thursday in the month of April from 4:30 to 6:15 at Warren County High School?s Charlie Dalton Gym (April 3 and April 5 will be at the Bobby Ray Elementary School Gym). The instruction provided will include the skills of ball handling, passing, shooting, post play, and defensive positioning. Each session will conclude with a scrimmage period. Written parental consent is required for each player and we ask that each player be properly dressed. If there are any questions, please call Coach Ryan Smith (931) 668-5936.
WCHS basketball banquet
The Pioneer and Lady Pioneer varsity and freshman basketball teams will hold their awards banquet at 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the WCHS cafeteria, with a catered meal followed by awards presentations.
All WCHS fans are invited to attend the banquet. Tickets will be available at the cafeteria entrance.
Fairgrounds field rental
Teams interested in reserving a field for practice at the fairgrounds fields, can call Karen between the hours of 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. at 473-4177 or 212-2376. Practice times are Monday through Thursday from 4-6, 6-8 and 8-10, and Sunday from 12-2, 2-4, 4-6, 6-8 and 8-10. The cost is $15 per practice.
Church league meeting
The Warren County Church league will hold an organizational meeting Monday, April 9, at 7 p.m. at the Ben Lomand building on North Chancery St. Churches interested in having a team in the church league should have a coach at this meeting.
The league will start in the middle of May. We will have three classes: Men ages 15 and up, Women ages 12 and up and Youth ages 10-16.
Tennis tournament
Citizens Bank of Sparta is sponsoring an open tennis tournament April 13-15. Entry fee is $5, and the deadline for entering is April 6.
The tournament will be played at White County High School, and trophies will be awarded in each division, with beginners, intermediate players and advanced players competing against players of similar skill. Entry forms are available at any Citizens Bank branch, or by contacting David Dunlap at 473-6357.
Golf Tournament
The Warren County Youth Baseball and Sofftball organizations will be holding a golf tournament April 28 at the McMinnville Country Club. Entry fee is $60 per person or $240 per four-person team, which inculdes lunch. Red tees and mulligans will be available. Hole-in-one vehicle program, Longest Drive and Closest to the Hole. Tee sponsors and golf cart sponsors are needed at $100 apiece. Deadline to enter is April 23. USSSA Earlybird Tournament
There will be a class C, D & E softball tournament April 13-14 at the Centertown Recreational Park. Entry fee is $175 plus $25 sanction fee. Deadline to enter is April 11. For more information contact Gerald Curtis at 931-273-9449 or Anthony Carter at 615-370-4200.
Wildcat 5K, Fun run/walk
Dibrell PTO will be hosting the third annual Wildcat 5K/One Mile Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, April 21, 2007 at 9 a.m. Entry fee is a donation of at least $10 for pre-registration and $15 for those registering after April 16. Race entries will also be accepted the day of the run at 8 a.m. All pre-registered participants must check in at 8:30. The race begins promptly at 9 a.m., rain or shine.
T-shirts will be given to all participants the day of the race with awards also being given to the male and female individuals with the overall best times.
The ?Wildcat Fun Day? will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., which will include bounce rides, carnival games, food, and fun for the whole family. A $10 armband can be purchased for the carnival games and rides.

Newtown softball
Teams are currently being accepted for an ISA-sanctioned adult softball league, to play this year in Newtown. The league will be cut off at 12 teams, and each team is guaranteed to play one another twice.

Swim team registration
The McMInnville Swim Team (MST) will be holding sign-ups for newteam members this month at the McMinnville Civic Center.
Sign-ups will be Friday, April 13, from 5-7 p.m. and Saturday, April 14, from 8 a.m. until noon.
