Alene Davis Boyd, 89
A homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church, she was the daughter of the late William Ephraim and Mary Attie Anderson Davis. She was married Aug. 16, 1941 to James Austin Boyd, who preceded her in death March 26, 2004.
She was valedictorian for Van Buren County?s class of 1935 and was the first office secretary for the new Caney Fork Electric Cooperative in early 1941.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mamie Davis and Flo Davis Roberts and four brothers, Jimmy, Frank, Edd, and Leonard Davis.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry Craig and Janice Boyd and James A. and Lanita Boyd, both of McMinville; grandson, Michael Craig Boyd of McMinnville; two step-grandchildren, Michelle Chisam and Matthew Lewis, both of McMinnville; five step-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Ramsey and Thelma Boyd, both of McMinnville; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Hubert and Billie Gray Boyd of McMinnville and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today in High?s Chapel with Rev. Robert Case and Harold Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Good Neighbor Program at First United Methodist Church or Boyd Christian School.
High Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
