Pamela Rogers hit with more charges: Former teacher served with indictments in her jail cell

Pamela Rogers
Embattled former Centertown teacher Pamela Rogers has been indicted for sending pornographic images of herself to the teen-age boy with whom she had a two-month sexual relationship.

Rogers, 28, was named in sealed indictments returned by the grand jury Friday charging four counts of exploitation of a minor. She was served with the indictments Monday afternoon in her cell at Warren County Jail. If convicted she could face one to two years on each of the Class E felonies, in addition to time she may have to serve for violation of probation.

Rogers is scheduled for a hearing this Friday before Circuit Court Judge Bart Stanley, at which time she could be sentenced to serve the balance of the seven years remaining on her original sentence for statutory rape and sexual battery by an authority figure.

She entered a no-contest plea last year to the charges she had numerous sexual encounters with the male Centertown student. She served 198 days in Warren County Jail before being released on probation and warned to have no contact with the victim.

However, she violated her probation a month later after lawmen discovered she had allegedly established a Web site on MySpace.com for the purpose of contacting the victim and his teen-age sister. She had committed the actions from her parents? home in Clarkrange where she was living at the time.

She was arrested when prosecutors discovered she had allegedly sent videos and pictures of herself to the victim via a cellphone camera. It was the racier of the videos that brought the recent indictments.

Prosecutors have not specifically revealed the content of the pictures and videos, although it is believed one of the images involves showing her bare breasts in a still picture.

The widely viewed video of a scantly clothed Rogers dancing for the camera in a suggestive manner is not believed to be one of the videos included in the latest round of indictments. Prosecutors have not revealed if they have possession of all the videos and pictures, although they have admitted they have witnesses to the illegal images. The images are illegal, Potter says, because they were pornographic in nature and sent from an adult to a minor.

Since the illegal video and pictures were part of the violation of probation charges anyway, it is not believed the indictment will affect her hearing Friday. Instead, the new charges will be brought in addition to the violation of probation charges and likely heard at a later date.

?We will ask that Ms. Rogers have to serve any time she gets for the exploitation charges in addition to the time she may have to serve for the violation of probation we?ll be hearing Friday,? said District Attorney General Dale Potter. ?This will boil down to two separate acts, meaning we can only seek sentencing on two of the four counts.?

This means Rogers could face a maximum four years added to whatever sentence is handed down for violation of probation following Friday?s hearing.
