Young Men United to hold roadblock
|
Young Men United holds several fundraisers throughout the year in an effort to help the community. Saturday?s fundraiser will be a road block.
?We just want everyone to know what we?re doing,? said member Don Crisp. ?We will be out collecting to help fund our annual events and activities. Every penny of the money raised will go back into the community to help people in need.?
At Christmastime, Young Men United?s annual Christmas Party helps underprivileged children who wouldn?t otherwise get showered with Christmas gifts. Last Christmas, they collected, wrapped and delivered toys to 22 children from 12 families.
Through the rest of the year, their efforts are still geared toward community service and involvement by helping members of our community devastated by fire and helping cancer patients.
?We give what we collect to people who need it,? said Crisp. ?Every penny goes to a good cause, the best cause, this community.?
Young Men United was formed in 1998. Over the last eight years, the group has kept busy within the community. Crisp organizes the activities during the year.
When asked about his busy schedule, Crisp stated, ?Idle minds are the devil?s playground. We just want to help the community and teach the younger generation about community service. That?s our goal. We want to better someone?s life.?
