Sometimes you really want mayo

Sometimes you really want mayo
With Pamela Rogers set to be released from the Warren County Jail today, several guys here at the office are discussing ways to get their hands on a Centertown basketball jersey and meet her at the jail door. Naturally, I told them that would be a tacky move.

From what I hear from jail officials, bystanders may be in for a surprise. We were told Friday we should make it a point to be there today to see what 190 days of jail will do to a person. Apparently, they don?t think Rogers looks anything like she used to. Since I haven?t visited the jail recently (which is always a good thing), I can?t say one way or the other.

What I can tell you is the story of two Louisiana women who are still at large after one of them attacked a fast food restaurant manager with a razor blade.

The altercation began innocently enough when one of the women made the request to substitute mayonnaise for tartar sauce on her fish sandwich. This request was not honored by the Rally?s restaurant in Kenner, La.

Infuriated, the woman demanded to speak to the manager. She wanted mayonnaise on her sandwich and she wanted it now. When the manager informed her no substitutions were allowed, the woman brandished a razor blade and slashed the manager.

This incident tells me two things: 1) mayonnaise is very important to one Louisiana resident, and 2) Rally?s should probably be more accommodating to its customers. What?s the big deal about giving the lady mayonnaise?

But folks do get angry about condiments at fast food restaurants. In fact a local women sent me a letter to the editor in January complaining about one of our fine eating establishments in McMinnville. Since I?m such a nice guy, I won?t print the name of the restaurant.

According to the woman?s letter, she visited the McMinnville restaurant on Jan. 8 and ordered a plain cheeseburger for her daughter. She emphasized she wanted the cheeseburger completely plain.

Unfortunately, when she went to her table, she quickly noticed the cheeseburger was not plain ? it had mustard and pickles. The woman complained to the night manager and was told another plain cheeseburger would be prepared.

When the ?new? plain cheeseburger was brought to the table, it was thoroughly inspected. And what was discovered? You guessed it. There was still mustard residue on the burger and traces of pickle juice on the bun. Gasp, it was the same cheeseburger.

The woman, now highly agitated, confronted the night manager again and he did not deny washing the old burger off and serving it again. The audacity!

The moral of this story is don?t trust anyone who has been granted the authority to place condiments on your food. It?s a powerful job and sometimes that power gets abused.

As for the odd, strange and curious news of the day, don?t worry. I have one rather gruesome tale I?ve been waiting to tell.

The story is sadly an unfortunate one for Jacqueline Dotson, who lost control of her SUV while talking on her cellphone in Winchester, Ky. The SUV ripped through a guardrail, rolled down a hill and landed upside down.

Dotson was trapped in the vehicle and had to be freed using the Jaws of Life. I?m not pleased to report one of her arms was completely severed and was found on the ground outside the vehicle.

But even though the arm was no longer attached to her body, her hand was still grasping the cellphone that triggered the accident in the first place. That?s cruel irony.
