Llewellyn gets more money from city

After ?resigning? last month, he has been hired twice this month. That?s good news for Llewellyn, but things just don?t seem to be adding up correctly for the city of McMinnville.
Llewellyn officially resigned Jan. 24 after submitting his letter of resignation to the Board of Mayor and Aldermen. He requested three months salary as a consulting fee until a new city administrator is found. The consulting contract ends May 23.
On Feb. 14, the board voted to enter into a contract with Llewellyn which stated he would receive $21,777 for his consulting services. Within days of the board agreeing to that amount, Llewellyn informed the city that was not correct.
?He asked for three months,? said Mayor Royce Davenport. ?That?s a quarter of the year so that?s how we figured it up. It came out to be $21,777.?
It was brought to the board?s attention that figuring by the week would make the amount well over the already agreed upon fee. The extra money is $1,560.
?If you add it up by the week and not just three months,? said Mayor Davenport, ?it comes out to be 13 weeks and not 12 weeks.?
A special session of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen was called Wednesday. Without any discussion or comments from the board, the old contract was repealed and a new contract with the corrected amount of $23,337 was passed. Just as with the first vote, Vice Mayor Patti Nunley and Alderman Jimmy Haley voted no to the new contract.
Other than the change in amount, the contract between Llewellyn and the city of McMinnville remains the same.
