Vikings rally past Broncos, 51-42

Still looking for their first District 9-A win, the Boyd Broncos traveled to Community High School on Tuesday. They’re still looking to crack the win column, however, as Boyd fell 51-42 to the Vikings.

Community held a two-point lead after the first period of play. But the Broncos turned things around in the second period out scoring Community 15-11 as the Broncos held a 19-17 lead at the break.

Boyd came out flat in the third period with just nine points, while the Vikings hit for 15 to take a 32-28 lead after three quarters of play.

In the final period both teams hit the offensive glass. The Broncos made a late charge with 14 points on the board. Community secured the victory with 19 points in the final period.

For the Broncos, Tyler Hillis led all scorers with 23 points. Dustin Curtis hit for six, Cameron Smith had five, Mitchell Young, Benny Jones, Matthew Hancock and James Dunlap added two points each.

Justin Stallings had 15 points and Wider Norris hit for 10 to lead the Vikings.

Boyd will be back at home today to take on Eagleville, with the girls’ tip-off scheduled for 6 p.m.
