A’s, Royals win at 11-12 year-old Cal Ripken tournament

Tuesday night in the 11-12 year-old Cal Ripken tournament at Dottie West Field, the Woodlee’s Auto Body A’s rolled past the Outdoor Shop Tigers 13-6.

The A’s scored four runs in the first inning, three in the second, four in the third and two in the fifth on 13 hits. The Tigers picked up six hits, scoring five runs in the fourth and one in the fifth.

Derek Brumley worked two innings allowing one hit to get the win. Hayden Wood and Blake Carter worked two innings each for the A’s. Spencer Pryor picked up the loss with three innings of work giving up 11 hits, while Mitchell Page worked three innings giving up five hits.

For Woodlee’s, Wood led with four hits. Brett Mullican and Aaron Taylor had three hits each. Daniel Carter had two hits, Brumley, Cody Parkhurst and Mitchell Fuqua added one hit each. For the Tigers, Cameron Moore, Pryor and Jared Kelly had one hit each.

  • In the second game of the night, the McCormack Royals defeated Morris Auto Body 11-1 in five innings. Ryne Fults went the distance for the Royals allowing just five hits. Cory Sydensticker worked three innings giving up six hits and Jordan Dennis went two innings and allowed six hits for the Yankees.

    The Royals sent six runs across the plate in the first inning and five in the fifth. The Yankees only run came in the top of the first. For the McCormack Royals, McKay Boles, Mitchell McCorkle, Hunter Daniel and Lee Northcutt collected two hits each. Dustin Rhea, Logan McCormack, Dustin Morris and McCrae Thomas added one hit each. For the Yankees, Logan Walker had two hits, Lucas Felton, Chase Stewart and Hunter Dye had one hit each.
