Tracksters advance to sectionals
Five members of the Warren County High School track program fared well enough at last week’s Region 4-AAA meet to continue their run toward a possible state championship appearance.
The Pioneers’ 4×100 relay team, as well as distance runner Lacey Pack and sprinter Lamar Readus, will travel to Murfreesboro Thursday for the sectional meet, after finishing in the top four spots in their events at the region.
Winners and runners-up from each event at the sectional meet advance to state competition, which is scheduled for May 26-27 at Memphis’ Briarcrest Christian School.
The relay team of Joshua Paz, Readus, Heath Crisp and Jevon Ramsey took fourth in their event, finishing with a time of 44.8 seconds.
Readus took fourth in the 100-meter dash by the slimmest of margins, finishing in 11.4 seconds and beating out the fifth-place finisher by 1/1000th of a second.
Like Readus, Pack, the Lady Pioneers’ distance specialist, will also be competing in two events at the sectional meet. Pack took third place in the 1,600 — finishing with a time of 6:01 — and was fourth in the 3,200 with a time of 13:23.
