Delbert Wayne Simpson, 83

McMinnville resident and Bogota, Ill., native Delbert Wayne Simpson, 83, died Jan. 26 at River Park Hospital after a brief illness.

A retired post office clerk and a member of Rockliff Church of Christ, he was the son of Guy and Bertha Stark Simpson; and was preceded in death by brother, Donovan Lee Simpson. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Irene Simpson; daughter, Suzette Owensby of Hillsboro; son-in-law, Marvin Owensby of Hillsboro; and grandchildren, Matthew, Andy and Amy Owensby of Hillsboro.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. today at High’s Chapel with Jeff Johnson and Horace Lee Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow at Rockliff Cemetery with military graveside rites administered by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. today until time of service at High’s.

High Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
