Curtis Leroy Wood, 63
A retired insurance salesman with Delta Life and a graduate of the University of Tennessee where he was a member of the marching band, he served as a band director with the Blount and Knox County school systems and was associated with Hewgley’s Music Shop in Knoxville before moving to Georgia.
The son of the late John J. and Lila M. Elrod Wood, he was preceded in death by brother, John Edward Wood; brother and sister-in-law, Carl Douglas and Judith Prince Wood; and nephew, Stephen Douglas Wood.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Henderson Wood of Dover, Ga.; stepsons and their spouses, William L. and Carla Henderson of Valdosta, Ga., Andy and Renee Henderson, Corey and Cherry Henderson, all of Waycross, Ga.; four step-grandchildren, niece, Carla Wood of McMinnville; nephew, Randy Wood of Washington, D.C.; and several cousins in the Warren County area.
Services were held Tuesday at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home in Statesboro with Hollie Tapley and Robbin King officiating. Burial will follow today at 11 a.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery in Waycross.
