Prayer meeting held Saturday

“Prayer is not an option. It’s a vital necessity,” said Ross. “Prayer is what my life is built on. One of the amazing things about it is how you can reach out and help others.”
The vision behind the Concert of Prayer is to see Warren County transform spiritually and socially over time. Ross believes we should pray in the solitude of our homes, but he also says there is no power on earth more potent that people united in prayer.
To support that claim he points to the biblical verse, “If two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in Heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.” (Matthew 18: 19-20)
Ross says there have been times when he has prayed over 12 hours a day. He realizes that’s one luxury of retirement and knows most people don’t have so much time to devote to prayer. That’s why he would like people to start with 15 minutes of prayer a day and work their way up to an hour.
“When you look at Warren County and see the crime, the factories closing and the people in jail with kids to feed, there is reason to pray,” said Ross. “This Concert of Prayer isn’t something we’ve thrown together. It’s something that’s been well planned out and we expect to have a packed house.”
Ross says one way to make time for prayer is to get up just a few minutes earlier, turn off the TV a little sooner, and make phone calls just a bit shorter.
Concert of Prayer will take place this Saturday, June 26, at the community room in Spangler Towers at 3 p.m.
