Outdoor Shop hooks Marlins
Tournament action heated up Monday night in the 11-12 year-old Cal Ripken league at the Dottie West ball field. In the first game of the night the Outdoor Shop Tigers downed the Medley Marlins 8-3.
Micah Black picked up the win, giving up two runs on five hits, with Dakota Taylor getting the save allowing one run on one hit.
Scoreless through two innings, the Tigers sent two runs across the plate in the third, two in the fourth and four in the fifth. The Marlins scored one in the third, one in the fourth and one in the sixth.
For the Tigers, Justin Duggin had three hits on the night. Gareth Llewellyn and Cameron Moore had two hits each. Jacob Lee, Mitchell Page, Slater Parks and Dakota Taylor had one hit each. For Medley’s, Matt Wilson and Joshua Miller had two hits each. Trey Hobbs and Caleb Northcutt had one hit each.
In the second game of the night Gateway Tire defeated Morris Auto Body 18-5. Gateway jumped out to a big lead in the first inning scoring 13 runs. The Cardinals scored four in the second and one in the fifth. The Yankees scored all five of their runs in the third.
For Gateway, Jeremy Southard and Patrick Harvey collected four hits each. Hector Labrada and Lake Kirby had three hits each. Tyler Glenn had two hits, Morgan Adcock, Mark Harvey and Roth Nunley had one hit each. For Morris Auto Body, Jordan Steiner and Lucas Foutch had one hit each.
In tournament action Tuesday night, Homeland Community Bank downed Gateway Tire 9-3. Lou Christian pitched all five innings to take the win.
Homeland scored three runs in the first, four in the second and two in the fifth. Gateway scored one run in the third and two in the fifth.
For Homeland Bank, Matthew Tidenberg had four hits, Lucas Hartman had two hits, Cody Fults and Garrett Pack had one hit each. For Gateway, Tyler Glenn had three hits, Mark Harvey had two hits, Hector Labrada and Lake Kirby had one hit each.
In the second game of the night, Security Federal blanked Outdoor Shop 6-0. Logan Seamans and Andrew Sims combined for a no-hit shut-out for the Royals.
Scoreless going in to the fifth inning, Andrew Sims hit a grand slam and the Royals sent six runs across the plate to take the win.
For the Royals, Logan Seamans had two hits, Robert Hillis, Justin Kelly, Mitchell McCorkle, Dustin Morris, Dustin Rhea and Sims had one hit each.
