March 4-7: Nashville Lawn & Garden Show
The live gardens, designed by professional gardeners and plant societies, will creatively interpret the show theme, with Casablanca lilies, Movie Star and Applause roses, and other flower and plant materials with Hollywood connotations.
At 5 p.m. each day, the lights will be dimmed in the garden display area so showgoers can experience the drama of the gardens reflected in lighting designs after dark. Plans also call for switching on sweeping spotlights, just like at a Hollywood movie premiere. In addition, 21 different lecture topics are scheduled throughout the four-day run of the show.
The lectures are free with paid daily admission. Hours of the show are 10 a.m.-9 p.m. March 4, 5 and 6; and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. March 7. All exhibits, displays and activities are indoors, and ample free parking is available. Admission is $8 for adults; $7 for seniors (65 and over); $1 for children 12 and under; with a four-day show pass priced at $13. Discounts are available for groups of 15 or more adults when tickets are purchased in a block at the ticket window.
Call 876-7680 for details. Food and beverages will be available daily for lunch and dinner in the Garden Caf?, which offers salads, sandwiches, soups and desserts; or at several concession stands throughout the show.
