Same-sex marriage an abomination to God
I recently read Joan Ryan’s article about marriage in the Southern Standard. After I read the article, it didn’t surprise me she is a San Francisco columnist. Though, sadly, I’m sure many share her view all over the world.
I am behind President Bush 100 percent in his effort to keep marriage licenses away from gay couples. Our government is not perfect, nor am I perfect. Does that mean we should add another imperfection? Certainly not.
Personally, I would support laws that would ban drive-through wedding ceremonies that reduce the sanctity of the marriage vows to little or nothing. Many wrongs do not make it all right.
Ryan also said marriage is sacred through the blessings of a religious institution, or through the spirituality of the marriage partners themselves. Not once in her article did she mention God. God instituted the sacred vows of marriage and he specified that it was to be between a man and a woman – not between Adam and Steve nor Madam and Eve. (Gen. 2:24)
Homosexuality, as well as same-sex marriage, is an abomination to God. Homosexuality is contrary to nature. I thank God that animals, insects, birds and fish do not imitate such people. Legalizing same-sex marriages would have far-reaching repercussions on the side of godlessness:
It would make it easier for same-sex couples to adopt children to influence with their deviant ideas and values. It would give the appearance to future generations that homosexuality and same-sex marriage is OK. It would NOT end discrimination against homosexuals.
Don’t get me wrong. Homosexuality is a sin. But so is lying, gambling (such as the recently passed Tennessee lottery), fornication, adultery, malice, hatred, murder, envy, drunkenness, etc.
Gal. 5:19-21: Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
But to say that same-sex marriage should be allowed just because heterosexual divorce is rampant or just because it is common place for a man to marry a woman 1/2 or 1/3 his age or just because there are drive-through wedding ceremonies is so very ridiculous.
The only thing evil needs to gain power is for good men to do nothing. Homosexuality is becoming more and more rampant and commonplace in our society because too many good men have done and still do nothing. I am against discrimination to gay people in the form of beatings, murders, harassment, etc. However if I voice my opposition to gays, I am labeled prejudiced. God loves the soul of a homosexual just as much as He loves my soul. It is the sin that God hates and therefore I hate.
