Feb. 27: Library, church ready to honor black history

Magness Library will present entertaining and informative programs in observance of Black History Month this Friday, Feb. 27.

The first program will be at 6 p.m. at the library. Wayne Wolford will present materials pertaining to his research on the Rockets and Clowns, semi-pro baseball teams based in Warren County from the 1930s till 1988. Wolford also has a Rockets/Clowns exhibit at the library. The exhibit includes photographs, uniforms and other artifacts.

Also, at 6 p.m., there will be an open house at Magness Library in honor of the Clark United Methodist Church Choir.

At 7 p.m. the choir will present a concert of black spirituals at First United Methodist Church, across the street from the library. Members of the choir will tell about the origin of each of the spirituals included in the concert.

Everyone is invited to attend both the events. For more information, call 473-2428.
