We need an attitude overhaul to keep jobs
Wake up Warren County!
How do you say with compassion that you’re sorry for the loses of jobs to our community but at the same time come down hard on the contributing factors that cause our jobless problem.
Carrier is a great loss to our community, but it isn’t the only one. We’ve had other losses that have had a major and lasting impact on our citizenry. Community attitudes need to change toward business concerns and these changes need to occur both individually and governmentally.
Employers are fighting low productivity, high wages, ridiculous workman’s compensation claims, health insurance increases, governmental regulations, labor, and taxes. Employers can find many other places where these are either minimized or non-existent.
Warren County workers must understand this and try to adjust for an unlevel playing field. Other states have done a better job addressing these problems than Tennessee, while some countries don’t even have any of these problems.
Carrier has been giving signals for more than three years of their dismay. We didn’t react. We ignored the signs and went on with our daily routines thinking it can’t happen.
We need an attitude overhaul. We Americans are losing our competitive edge. We governmentally have given away too much and are now reaping the losses together.
Local government and civic leaders must assume a great amount of the responsibility. You simply cannot sit back and maintain what has been accomplished. You must continue to recruit more and better-paying jobs. What have we done to help make our existing businesses succeed?
Local government has treated even homegrown businesses like WastAway poorly. Support and build up businesses and don’t let petty jealousies or “lofty” ideals hurt our community.
There are still some great employers remaining. Find out how we can help secure their future in Warren County before all our jobs are somewhere else. Support pro-business concepts. Help secure our children a future at home. We can make a difference if we put forth the effort.
