Carrier has turned its back on Warren County
Carrier has been a part of our family before I was even a twinkle in my parent’s eyes. Carrier helped put food our table and even put me through college. Just like many people, I have always been a believer in you.
That belief ended today. The announcement came as a total surprise and has put instant panic in the lives of many families in the McMinnville area. So many people have been faithful and loyal to your company for so many years. It sickens me to realize Carrier, an American company, knows the shape of the U.S. economy and still continues to lay off 1,300 people and move to Mexico.
As a daughter of a 34-year Carrier employee, I am appalled by your announcement on Monday to close one of the largest employers in McMinnville, a tiny Tennessee community. My father has dedicated his entire working career to you. He was even one of the first employees at the McMinnville plant and soon he will be jobless at age 57.
My parents had big dreams that you have now ripped apart – like purchasing a new RV and traveling after retirement. Now, they must watch every penny they spend at a time when they deserve to enjoy life and the things they’ve worked hard to earn. All for your bottom line.
Your move will have devastating effects on the town that you have called home for more than 35 years and I hope it has a rebound effect on you. I plan to tell everyone I know what a sad example of an American company you are and I pray they boycott you just like I always will.
Remember, your employees are also your customers. I hope you can sleep well at night knowing what you have done to your fellow Americans.
Sincerely,
Jennifer B. Neely
