FCE Club: Vinson’s Crossroads

Ellinora Vinson and Eva Taylor were hostesses for the Jan. 15 meeting of Vinson’s Crossroads Family and Community Education Club held at 1 p.m. in the Magnolia Room.

The devotional thoughts were shared by Naomi Smith, who read Psalms 121 followed by prayer. She also read two poems, “Brighten The Corner Where You Are,” and “January – The Month After Christmas.”

After the Pledge to the Flag, roll call was answered with “one thing I would like to do this year.” Monthly reports were given by Nelle Roller and Mrs. Vinson.

A reading report was given by Mrs. Burkhalter on “Evening Class” by M. Binchy.

Chairpersons selected were as follows: Eva Taylor, wellness; Timmy Burkhalter, environment; Lois Self, special projects; Wilma Davenport, global; Naomi Smith, family life; Ellinora Vinson, economics.

Sandra Blair showed a queen-size cross-stitched quilt top in a basket pattern and a queen-size quilt top featuring a floral design while giving tips on protecting corner stitches from curling.

Lois Self shared hints on how to remove candle wax and making fresh flowers last longer by adding sugar, aspirin or a drop of bleach.

Refreshments were served by the hostesses and the Homemakers’ Club Creed was read in unison prior to adjournment.
