Two meth suspects charged

A Treemont man found out meth does not mix well after he tried to conceal some of the illegal narcotic in a fruit drink when police walked into his room.

The suspect, Douglas Rogers, 46, is charged with possession of meth and faces additional violation of probation charges since he was reportedly on probation on a prior marijuana conviction at the time of his recent arrest.

According to McMinnville Narcotics Investigator Tony Jenkins, police arrived at a residence at Treemont Apartments after receiving information drugs were being trafficked there.

After being allowed in by the apartment’s resident, police made their way to a back room where they found Rogers.

“I saw him do something real quick when we walked in and then I walked over and looked into what appeared to be a fruit drink sitting beside him,” Jenkins said. “There was some substance floating in the drink. I guess he thought it’d just mix in, but it didn’t.”

Jenkins said he believes the substance found in the drink was meth, placed there by Rogers. In addition to the alleged meth in the drink, police found a small box concealed in the bed near where Rogers was located. Inside the container, police found 12 small baggies, containing what they believe to be five grams of meth.

While city officers were making an arrest at Treemont, sheriff’s officers were busy raiding a residence on Old Well Road.

The suspect in the case, Jerry Lynn McCormick, 40, is charged with manufacture of meth.

According to Sheriff Jackie Matheny, officers found numerous items used in the production of meth inside his home during a search. The meth raid is the fourth meth lab found in just over a week in Warren County.
