Newby leads Garden City to a big day
Jack Newby helped Garden City Bowl turn in the top scores this week in the Gold and Silver Bowling League, but Jones Twins Beauty Salon remains in first place in the league after Tuesday’s play.
Newby had a 219 for high scratch game and a 244 for high handicap game. He also bowled a 582 scratch series and a 657 handicap series to lead Garden City to the high team game and series scores.
Jones Twins leads the league standings at 35-17, followed by Crouch Motors, Dr Pepper, Garden City, Holder Realty, Security Federal, Cumberland Lumber and Cumberland Bank.
• Results from this weeks play in the Merchant All-Stars league have Bernie’s Karaoke still in the No. 1 spot, followed by Mid-State Amusement, Security Federal, Buck’s Pizza, Adcock Guttering, Pioneer Building Supply and Garden City Bowl.
George Knauer had the high game of 235 this week, followed closely by Yogi Bratcher’s 234. High series went to Bratcher with a 663. Trent Adcock turned in a 628. High handicap game was rolled by Knauer with a 259 and Bratcher had the high handicap series with a 720.
