15-16 Babe Ruth: Sparta sweeps locals

Sparta came away with wins over both Warren County squads in the 15-16 year-old division of Babe Ruth baseball this week.

The team from White County notched a 10-3 victory over VFW, with Tyler Brockman and Jason Hutson connecting for two hits each. Adam Drake got the win on the mound.

Ross Marlowe took the loss on the hill for VFW, and had a hit in the losing cause. Jonathan York also had a base hit for the local squad.

Sparta had a bit tougher time with Bridgestone’s squad, but came out on top of a 9-7 decision. Scotty Peterson picked up the win, while Darren Mabe took the loss for Bridgestone.

Tyler Brockman, Jacob Grace and Matt Scoggins had two hits each for Sparta, while Jeff Simmons and Isaiah Taylor had a hit apiece for Bridgestone.

Their results against a common opponent didn’t mean much when McMinnville’s local squads squared off, however, as VFW came away with a 12-7 victory over Bridgestone.

Kevin Fults and Jonathan Colangione had two hits apiece for VFW, while Isaiah Taylor came through with a base hit for Bridgestone.
