Lady Broncos split with Westmoreland
The Lady Bronco softball team split a home doubleheader Thursday with the Lady Eagles of Westmoreland, falling in the first game 10-9 and bouncing back to take the second game 8-6.
In the first game Boyd (7-14) fell behind early in the first as the Lady Eagles picked up two runs on two hits for 2-0 lead. With Westmoreland in the lead 4-3 in the fifth, Boyd loaded the bases and scored four runs to take a 7-4 advantage.
The Lady Eagles battled their way back in the sixth and seventh with four hits, scoring six runs to take the win.
Kati Sutton and Abbye Barnes were each 3-for-5, Amber Hodge went 1-for-3, Tenara Jones was 1-for-4, and Dara Webb, Alicia Driver and Grace Barnes were 1-for-2. Amber Hodge had three strikeouts with three walks, and the Broncos committed four errors.
In the second game Boyd picked up 10 hits and eight runs while the Lady Eagles picked up six runs on six hits. Sutton went 1-for-4, Holly Ferrell and Scarlette Hodge went 2-for-3, was Amber Hodge 2-for-4, Mary Reynolds and Jones were 1-for-3 and Driver went 1-1.
The Lady Broncos host Middle Tennessee Christian School for their Senior Day game Monday at 4 p.m.
