Olin Steele, 86

McMinnville resident and Putnam County native Olin Steele, 86, died June 27 at River Park Hospital after an extended illness.

A retired employee of BRC and a member of the Assembly of God, he served his county in the U.S. Army during World War II.

The son of the late Loftus and Oma Smith Steele; he was preceded in death by his wife, Etta Louisa Crawford Steele; sons, Paul and Ezra Steele, one brother and six sisters.

He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Kathleen Steele, Terry and Gayle Steele, Phillip and Lori Steele, all of McMinnville; daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy and John Myers, Shelby Jean Hudson, Judy and Bobby Brown, Phyllis Renee Steele, Marie Campbell and the late Jackie Campbell, all of McMinnville; 10 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services were held Tuesday at Love-Cantrell & Cope Funeral Home Chapel with Jerry Steele officiating. Burial followed at Cherry Hill Cemetery with military graveside rites administered by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
