Pacesetters benefits from $10,000
“As demonstrated by the Warren County center, we all can play an integral role in our communities,” Davis said. “This investment will further strengthen the Pacesetters commitment to training individuals to assist in promoting a strong, local economy.”
Participating in the announcement and check presentation were: Lindsay Botts, field representative for Sen. Lamar Alexander; David Weed, field representative for Sen. Bill Frist; state Sen. Jerry Cooper; Warren County Executive Kenneth Rogers; city of Brownsville Mayor Webb Banks and John Green, executive leader for Pacesetters, Inc.
“We are thrilled to assist Pacesetters in the their endeavors to improve the center,” said Tackett. “I commend them for the service they provide to assist those with disabilities and for improving the quality of life in their community.”
Rural Development funds will be used to construct a firewall that is being required by fire and safety and state licensing officials in order to establish a thrift store within the facility. Pacesetters has operated the Warren County center since the late 1970s, offering a training center for disabled individuals in the Warren County area.
Once the firewall is built, Pacesetters will open a retail outlet to the public with gifts, art, antiques and other special products. For some individuals, it will be an opportunity for them to learn and train to prepare for a job in the future.
“In most cases, a wall represents a barrier,” said Green. “However, this Rural Development grant to build a wall at the Warren County Pacesetters center represents an opportunity. This grant will allow Pacesetters to establish a connection with the community it has not had.”
