March 19: Shakespeare’s Estate Sale scheduled in March

Shakespeare on the Cumberland (SOC), the volunteer organization supporting The Nashville Shakespeare Festival, is holding a free “estate” sale to benefit the Festival. The sale will be held March 19-21 in the covered parking area of University School in Nashville.

The Nashville Shakespeare Festival is a nonprofit group that has presented 16 years of free performances in Centennial Park. This past year approximately 12,000 people enjoyed “Romeo and Juliet” under the stars. It also provides a comprehensive outreach program to area schools and organizations, consisting of a touring production, play-tasting and several workshop options. This year it will sponsor Camp Shakespeare, a week of fun and hands-on acting training for children ages 12-15.

The estate sale will include donated items from the community with a special Market Place of items donated by local furniture stores and interior designers. During the sale, members of The Nashville Shakespeare Festival will provide entertainment.

There will be a Preview Party held from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, March 18. Patrons will enjoy hors d’oeuvres and a wine bar while perusing donated items. Cost for the Preview Party is $75 per person. Tickets can be obtained by calling the Nashville Shakespeare Festival office at 255-2273.

Members of the community who would like to donate items for the sale or would like further information can contact Kay Rickenbaugh at 373-5620 or Shellie Fossick at 255-2273.
