Feb. 28: Foote to close out symphony’s children’s series
The award-winning children’s entertainer will join The Nashville Symphony for the last of its 2003-04 Pied Piper Children’s Series concerts on Saturday, Feb. 28.
“It’s easy to see why Foote is so popular,” a reporter for the Calgary Herald said recently. “He is as much a comedian as he is a musician and quickly gets people laughing.”
In the United States, Foote’s music has received Parents’ Choice (Parents’ Choice Foundation) and Nappa Gold awards, and in Canada he has been given the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers’ (SOCAN) Best Songwriter for Children Award. In addition, many of his songs have been made into music videos, including “Man Who Ran Away with the Moon,” “One Thousand Pennies” and “Let’s Sing A Song.”
“Pied Piper concerts are shorter, more interactive concerts designed specifically for children ages 3-8,” said Nashville Symphony Associate Conductor Byung Hyun-Rhee, who will conduct the upcoming concert. “This particular performance promises to be both musically and visually stimulating.”
The Nashville Symphony will present Norman Foote at 11 a.m. Feb. 28 at TPAC’s Jackson Hall; free lobby activities begin at 10:15 a.m. Tickets range from $10-$15.
This concert is a part of the Ann & Monroe Carell Family Trust Pied Piper Children’s Concert Series.
