Matt Jones sentenced to 21 years for meth: He was one of six local residents sent to federal prison

Trafficking methaphetamine will cost six Warren countains significant time in federal prison, with one defendant sentenced to nearly 22 years behind bars.

Receiving the longest sentence in the recent round of federal court sentencings was Matt Jones, who was ordered to serve 21.9 years in federal prison to be followed by six years supervised probation.

According to District Attorney General Dale Potter, the sentences come after the suspects were arrested by either the Warren County Sheriff’s Department, McMinnville Police Department or the District Attorney General’s office for various crimes involving the manufacture and/or distribution of meth. The cases were then adopted by federal prosecutors and taken before federal court where penalties are much harsher than on a state level.

Potter pointed out the possibility of being tried federally should serve as an example to other traffickers. The sentences handed out by the federal court do not carry the chance of early release through parole. The supervised probation period is served after the appointed jail time has been served.

Other sentences handed down to Warren countians by the federal court on meth charges:

• Stanley Bradley was sentenced to serve 10.25 years and spend six years on supervised probation.

• Edna Stacey was sentenced to serve nine years and spend three years on supervised probation.

• Donnie Shields was sentenced to serve 4.75 years and spend three years on supervised probation.

• Johnny Argo was sentenced to serve 3.8 years and spend three years on supervised probation.

• James Weismore was sentenced to nine months and to spend three years on supervised probation.

Along with those already receiving time, four others are awaiting sentencing. Those include: Steve Foutch on Feb. 23; James Stacey on Feb. 10; Tim Fults on Feb. 10; and Lester Land at an unspecified date.
