CEO Roundtable to sponsor golf tourney

This tournament was launched by golf coach Keith Maxwell and athletic director Andy Jacobs of Warren County High School. It was the first such invitational golf tournament in the state of Tennessee. It will occur in mid-season for Class AAA area high schools, and is regarded as the “pre-state preview tournament.”
The tournament field is full with 19 boys teams (five players each) and 17 girls teams (three players each). Teams will participate from Warren County, Knoxville Farragut, Brentwood High School, Warren County (Ky.), Bradley County, Marshall County (boys only), Siegel, Oakland, Riverdale, Blackman, Cookeville, Lebanon, Coffee County, McMinn County, McMinn Central, Cleveland High School, White County, Tullahoma High School, and Rhea County.
There will be 146 players, plus coaches and parents, participating. Play will begin around 8:15 a.m. with a shotgun start and end around 2:30 p.m. Trophy presentations will be about 3 p.m. The public is welcomed to attend. There will be no admission charge.
The tournament record is 69 (boys) and 68 (girls). Two holes-in-one have recorded on hole No. 7, by a boy at the 2001 tournament, and last year by the Lady Pioneers’ Tori Ritz. The Warren County boys team has finished first once.
A donation of $500 will be made to the golf program of the winning boys and girls high school program. Trophies are awarded for the winning teams and individual scores.
Recognized are the top three teams and top five players — both male and female. Also rewarded is a long drive contest and closest to the pin. The players and coaches are provided a luncheon cookout and a tournament T-shirt. Area college and university golf coaches will be invited to attend. The editor of the “Tennessee State Golf” magazine will attend and cover the tournament.
CEO Roundtable officials are hopeful the tournament will bring business to Warren County in terms of lodging, meals and other services, and expect to be welcoming over 200 guests from the participating high schools.
