Ringside Review: Lita still working her way back from a neck injury

Lita’s quest to return to the ring hasn’t ended yet, but she’s feeling better and optimistic.

The real-life Amy Dumas has been going through perhaps her toughest physical and emotional battle since last May, when she needed neck surgery after being hurt while filming the Fox series “Dark Angel.”

Dr. Lloyd Youngblood of San Antonio told her that she would be good to go in six months after her surgery, but she isn’t. Lita still can’t work out like she wants to, because of soreness in her neck.

When she runs, it agitates the site of the surgery.

Lita says when she is doing nothing the neck is OK, but when she moves around it hurts.

Dr. Youngblood says that Lita is the first woman he has performed this surgery on, and maybe it might take a little longer for her to heal.

The doctor has a long list of male wrestlers who have done well as his patients, including Steve Austin, Chris Benoit, Rhyno, Scotty 2 Hotty and Bob “Hardcore” Holly.

• We can now add Kurt Angle to the list of wrestlers who have suffered neck injuries.

Angle may have to miss WrestleMania X-9 this month, and would be out for roughly a year if he has to have surgery.

• If you have Direct TV you may be unable to see “Raw” after March 18 without the Total Choice package.

It seems TNN has asked for more money from Direct TV and Direct TV will pass it down to their customers.

• The “No Way Out” pay-per-view was the most bought in the last 11 months.

Why? The return of Steve Austin.

When it comes to getting people to buy pay-per-view, Austin is the best.

• Last week’s action at Jake’s was good, but this week should be better.

The main event will have Shawn Williams and Sean Rhodes in a Texas Tornado Death Match, with Kilo and The Saint.

There is no love lost between these four men, and the action will be all over Jake’s.

In the other main event, the fans will be part of the action. In a fan strap match, 12 fans will be picked and placed around the ring.

If a wrestler gets out of the ring, he will be met with belts to his back. This match, featuring Slade vs. Vicious Vandy, was demanded by the fans.

Outlaw Lee Condry will take on D’Anglea in a return match from last week that got out of control.

K-9 Colk will have a hard time helping his man this time, as he will be handcuffed to the chairman of Texas Pro Wrestling.

Pain vs. Erick Andrews and Kid Clous vs. Torch Hudson round out the card. Bell time is 8 p.m. at Jake’s Auction House.
