Flora Elene Mooneyham Myers, James Bud Redmon, Michael (Bernie) Sullivan, Clifford Franklin McClain, Rufus G. Baker, Lawrence A. (Blackie) Mayfield, Carrie Victoria Morrison

Flora Elene Mooneyham Myers, 77
McMinnville resident and White County native Flora Elene Mooneyham Myers, 77, died May 12 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville after an extended illness.

A homemaker and a member of the Christian Fellowship Church of God, she was the daughter of Dedrick and Comer Lee Dodson Roberts; and was preceded in death by her first husband, Jessie Clay Mooneyham; sons, Clayton and Ted Mooneyham; stepson, Buford Myers; sisters, Nallie Lee Keener, Marthie Ellen and Lula Ruth Roberts; and son-in-law, Lloyd Burgess.

She is survived by her husband, Cebert Myers; daughters and sons-in-law, Helen and Sam Brock of Sparta, Alma Burgess of Crossville, Lucille and Tony Boyd of McMinnville, Wanda and Hubert Phifer of Quebeck, Jessie and Johnny Rambo of McMinnville, Cynthia and Doug Cantrell of Livingston; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Andy Bassham of Manchester; sons and daughters-in-law, Phillip and Becky Mooneyham, Wendell and Marilyn (Puddin) Mooneyham, all of McMinnville; stepsons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Anita Myers, William and Beverly Myers, all of McMinnville; special grandchildren, Jenene Phifer Jones and Desiray Mooneyham, both of Sparta; 20 grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Kelly Roberts of McMinnville and W.D. Roberts of Spencer; sisters, Nellie Belle Beasley and Anna Mae Roberts, both of Spencer, Irene Blaylock of Crossville, Alberta Whited of Livingston, Loreeta Burdett of Pikeville and Ramona Lyzial Porter of McMinnville; several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. today at High’s Chapel with Danny Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow at Frasier’s Chapel Cemetery in White County. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of service today at High’s.

James Bud Redmon, 71
Rock Island resident James Bud Redmon, 71, died May 2 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

A Korean War veteran, he was the son of Donnie and Samentha Mitchell Redmon; and was preceded in death by daughter, Elizabeth Redmon.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Ethel Cantrell Redmon of Smithville; sons, James Michael of Columbus, Ga., Phillip Wayne, David Allen and John Thomas Redmon of Warren County; daughter, Janice Malone of Nashville; sisters, Lula May McCormick of McMinnville, Marie Wolf and Joy Stembridge of Dibrell; and 11 grandchildren.

Services were held May 5 at DeKalb Funeral Home in Smithville with Eddie Cantrell and Darrell Cantrell officiating. Burial followed at New Union Cemetery.

Michael (Bernie) Sullivan, 39
Smithville resident Michael (Bernie) Sullivan, 39, died May 11 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

A salesman with Cumberland Dodge and a member of the Church of Christ, he was the son of Gayle Hill of Smithville and the late Donald Eugene Sullivan. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Thelma Rollins Hill.

He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Ryan and Lindsey Sullivan of Woodbury; son, Matthew Sullivan of Smithville; grandchildren, Emily Sullivan of Woodbury and Ethan Beasley of Smithville; sister, Donna Cope of Smithville; nephew, Clinton Cope of Smithville; maternal grandfather, Richard Hill of Beersheba; and paternal grandmother, Thelma Sullivan of McMinnville.

Services were held Monday at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home in Smithville with Joe Gray officiating. Burial followed at Shilo Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Love-Cantrell for funeral expenses.

Clifford Franklin McClain, 84
Morrison resident and Warren County native Clifford Franklin McClain, 84, died May 13 at River Park Hospital.

A retired farmer and a member of Pleasant Knoll Church of Christ, he served as president of the Warren County A&L Fair Board for 19 years and was on the board of directors of Cookeville PCA and Federal Land Bank.

The son of Harry Lawrence and Bertie Florence Merriman McClain, he is survived by his wife, Mildred McClain; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Thomas and Wilma Tolbert of Nashville, William L. and Dorothy Hillis of Fairborn, Ohio, and Pauline Hillis of Viola; nieces and nephews, Richard and Faye McClain, Nancy and Steve Helton, all of Morrison, Iona and David King, Frank and Sharon Roberts, all of McMinnville; Phyllis Reynolds of Calhoun, Ga., Phillip and Fredia Reynolds of Morrison, Kaye and George Thaxton of Viola, Ann Womack of Summitville, Harold and Gwen Tolbert of Smithville, Tommy and Melissa Tolbert of Nashville, Betty and Larry Underwood of Hubert Heights, Ohio, and Debbie Hillis of Fairborn, Ohio; several great-nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at High’s Chapel with Jerry Finney officiating. Burial will follow at Morrison Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service today at High’s.

Rufus G. Baker, 75
Beersheba Springs resident Rufus G. Baker, 75, died May 12.

A member of Cumberland Baptist Church, he was the son of the late A.P. and Lottie Baker Sr., and was preceded in death by sisters, Sarah Rehevena Forsyth and Rosetta Craig; and brother, J.R. Baker.

He is survived by his wife, Margie Baker; sons, Charles Fincher of Nashville, Hubert and David Fincher of Beersheba Springs, Jeffery Spain of Beersheba Springs, George Fincher of McMinnville, and Floyd Fincher of Eustis, Fla.; daughters, Doris Jordan of Ft. Payne, Ala., and Carlene Guyear of Monteagle; brother, A.P. Baker Jr. of Spencer; sister, Mary Frances Nunley of Beersheba Springs; 26 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Cumberland Baptist Church in Beersheba Springs with Clyde Leeds and Rev. Alton Scruggs officiating. Burial will follow at Walker Cemetery.

Lawrence A. (Blackie) Mayfield, 96
McMinnville resident and Burkesville, Ky., native Lawrence A. (Blackie) Mayfield, 96, died May 11 at River Park Hospital.

A Tennessee Highway Patrolman and a member of the Church of Christ, was the son of the late Walter Edward and Ada Kate Wisdom Mayfield.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Mayfield; halfbrother, Brant Mayfield of Roanoke, Va.; sister, Beulah Belle Jennings of Alexandria and halfsister, Betty Coleman of Celina.

Services were held Tuesday at Upton Funeral Home with burial following at Fitzgerald Cemetery in Celina.

Carrie Victoria Morrison, 85
Beersheba Springs resident Carrie Victoria Morrison, 85, died May 13.

A member of Grace Chapel United Methodist Church and the Beersheba Springs Historical Society, she was the daughter of the late Victor Lafayette and Carrie Hadley Coppinger Tate; and was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters.

She is survived by daughters, Delores Nunley and Deborah Spivey of Gruetli-Laager; sons, Steve Morrison of Beersheba Springs and John Morrison of Searcy, Ark.; brother, David Eugene Tate of Dunlap; 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Layne Funeral Home Chapel in Altamont with Rev. Glyn F. Killian officiating. Burial will follow at Grace Chapel Cemetery.
