Farmers Market dairy day set June 25

Warren County 4-H Clubs, in conjunction with June Dairy Month chairman Joshua Moore and the Farmers Market, is hosting dairy month activities June 25 at the market.

Activities will kick off at 9 a.m. with a celebrity cow-milking contest. Sheriff Jackie Matheny, Southern Standard news editor Charlie Johnson and County Executive Kenneth Rogers will be some of the well-known personalities trying their hand at milking. Contestants will go head to head to see who can milk the largest quantity in the shortest amount of time.

A Lil’ Miss and Mister Farmer contest will be held at 9:30 a.m. Participants are asked to wear denim attire. Age categories are 2-5 year-old boys and girls. Registration for the contest will be from 9-9:30 a.m. at the Farmers Market.

Events for the morning will conclude with a homemade ice cream making contest. Participants are asked to submit a quart or more of ice cream in a plastic container. Prizes will be awarded to all entries.
