4-H members honored at awards banquet

Approximately 400 Warren County’s most outstanding 4-H’ers, sponsors and volunteer leaders were recently honored at the 2005 4-H awards banquet held at the McMinnville Civic Center. Awards were presented to the most outstanding junior, junior high and senior high 4-H’ers along with, volunteer leader and family of the year.

4-H’ers receiving special awards were: John-Adam Turner, Most Outstanding Junior 4-H’er; Joshua Moore, Outstanding Junior High 4-H’er, Mary Beth Gribble, Outstanding Senior High 4-H’er Level II and Erika Betschart, Outstanding Senior High 4-H Member Level I. Being honored as Outstanding Volunteer Leader was Hilda Lytle with the John and Terri Turner family being chosen as the 4-H Family of the Year.

Other awards were presented to the top three 4-H members in each grade division with junior awards going to Austin Wright, Sarah Collins and Allen Betschart. The junior high top three include Lauren Lytle, Lindsey Clayton and Jesse Paz. The senior high top three were presented to Brittany Basham, Lee-Allen Turner and Ryan Bush.

Three 4-H clubs were also awarded for participation, enthusiasm and involvement in 4-H club meetings by being presented Club of the Year Awards. The fourth-grade Club of the Year was Roxanne Crain’s class at Hickory Creek. The fifth-grade Club of the Year was presented to Donna Vandygriff’s class at Morrison and the sixth-grade plaque was awarded to Carrie Peterson’s class at Morrison. The Most Outstanding 4-H Secretary award was presented to Erin Dyer and the Officer Team Award going to Barbara Hillis’ fourth-grade officers at Dibrell.

Over 300 4-H’ers were also presented the Local 100% Award for participating in every local contest held during the school year. Receiving special recognition was fourth-grader Evan Jones of Centertown, who designed the winning 4-H poster and was presented a T-shirt featuring his design. This design will be used throughout the upcoming year for 4-H promotional activities.

Other 4-H’ers recognized for their county winning 4-H posters were Bliss Zechman, Bobby Ray Memorial; Joshua Moore, WCMS; Brennan Lytle, Bobby Ray and Austin Wright, Centertown. Dairy poster winners recognized were Bailey Spain, overall winner, West Elementary; Joshua Moore, WCMS; Allen Betschart, WCMS; Drew Milligan, WCHS and Austin Wright.

Trophies were also presented to county 4-H Photo Search winners for their winning photographs. Recipients were: Joshua Moore, McCain Smock, Erika Betschart, Ryan Bush, Drew Milligan, Lindsey Clayton, Peyton Kelsey, Ty Bryan, Austin Wright and Mac Britton. Other 4-H’ers were awarded with pins and medals for their accomplishments in 4-H project work.
