Senior League tourney starts

Tournament action heated up in Senior League baseball last Saturday with four games on the schedule.

In the first game of the day Rubley?s Rangers rolled past Handy Rental 11-3. Gage Myers picked up the win after working three innings of hit-less ball. Nick Cantrell took the loss after giving up five runs on three hits.

The Rangers scored two runs in the bottom of the first after the Tigers went down in the top of the inning. Handy Rental came back with three runs in the top of the third, but that would be all they would get. Rubley?s sent four runs to the plate in the bottom of the innings, one in the fourth and four in the fifth to secure the victory.

For the Rangers, Myers led with two hits, Tyler Forth and Chase Fults added one hit each. Spencer Pryor came up with the only hit of the night for the Tigers.

In the second game of the day Woodlee?s Body Shop defeated the Hills Creek Reds in four innings 16-6. The A?s pounded out 13 hits, coming off the bats of Brett Mullican with four, Derek Brumley had three, Cody Parkhurst added two, Slade Grissom, Cole Rust, Aaron Taylor and Justin Woodlee added one hit each. For the Reds, Lazaro Alvarez, Mitchell Barrett, Austin Panter, Taylor Hobbs and Wesley Cleland had one hit apiece.

Security Federal defeated the regular season champs Rubley?s Rangers 11-7. Security Federal jumped on the board early with five runs in the top of the first. The Rangers scored one run in the bottom of the inning. Rubley?s added two runs in the second, two in the third and fourth to tie the game at 7-7. The Giants took the lead for good in the top of the sixth with four runs crossing the plate.

Grayson Woods worked the first four innings for the Giants, giving up six hits and five runs. Kaleb Tilton worked one inning and Jonathan Burton got the win after coming in and working one inning. Justin Ware took the loss for Rubley?s with six innings of work.

For the Giants, Nathan Patterson, Garrison Holmes, Burton and Hayden Jones had two hits each. Tilton and Woods added one hit each. Zach Rubley led the Rangers with two hits. Nick Grandey, Myers, River Underwood, Chase Fults and Brody Fernandez had one hit apiece.

In the last game of the night the Midway Electric Cardinals slipped past Morris Auto Body 13-9.

Jacob Reagan got the win with three innings of work. Reagan gave up four hits and four runs. Patrick David took the loss for the Yankees after giving up 10 hits and 13 runs.

The Yankees scored four runs in the third, three in the fourth and two in the fifth. The Cardinals sent two runs to the plate in the bottom of the first and had a big inning in the third with 11 runs.

For the Cardinals, Joel Rowland, Reagan, Micah McColloch and Casey Tomberlin had two hits each. J.T. Morgan, Travis Ayers, Kyle Haley and Austin Green added one hit each.

For the Yankees, Robbie McCullough and Cory Cantrell led with two hits each. David, Jacob Newby and Cory Sydenstricker had one hit apiece.
