Boyd lands two on all-league team

The Boyd High School basketball seasons might have ended without a district win, but it also ended on a positive note with one Lady Bronco and one Bronco being selected to the District 9-A teams.

Senior Amanda Prater was presented with her award after the girls? finals were played on Thursday. As one of the 12 players chosen for this year?s all-district squad, Prater led the Lady Broncos in scoring with 345 points this season and 227 rebounds ? averaging 13.8 points per game.

?Amanda has been a great example to her teammates on and off the court this season,? said coach Jeanne Hagar.

Tyler Hillis? selection to the all-district team was announced Friday night after the boys? championship game.

Hillis, a sophomore, averaged 18.1 points a game and scored a total of 454 points this season. He had a season-high of 30 points against Richard Hardy Memorial.

?Not only was Tyler a leader in scoring, but he was very dominant on the boards. As a sophomore, he is developing into an all-around player,? said coach Robert Jefferies.

This was Boyd?s first season in 9-A.
