Caldwell won?t run for Register of Deeds

?My present employer has been very supportive of my decisions, but because of previous obligations and commitments to my employer and my community, I feel it would not be in the best interest of those concerned for me to take on new responsibilities now before seeing these projects through,? Caldwell said in beating the deadline yesterday to have his name removed from the ballot. ?Some things have changed in my personal and professional plans that will involve some out-of-town travel in the upcoming months. This would make it very difficult for me to run a campaign the way I would like to and meet and talk with the people of Warren County.?
Along with wishing the best of luck to incumbent Register of Deeds Terry Smith and challenger Ronald Lorance, Caldwell thanked the people of the 10th District for the county commission term he will complete in September. He was elected to the county court four years ago and is just finishing his freshman term of office.
In eyeing the Register of Deeds race, Caldwell chose not to put his name in for another term on the county commission. Qualifying deadline, as well as the deadline to withdraw from the ballot for most of the local elections, has now passed meaning the voters of the 10th District will be electing at least one new commissioner with the departure of Caldwell.
