The Boomers ready to play Allman Brothers, ZZ Top

The Boomers will be taking the stage this Friday night as the Main Street LIVE! summer concert series holds its fourth event. With only eight concerts this summer, Friday night marks the halfway point for music enthusiasts.
Leaving the beach music variety behind, American blues is the theme for Friday evening. With some blues harmonica and keyboards, lead vocalist Dave Bauder describes their sound as American rock blues, as they play music from the Allman Brothers, ZZ Top, James Cotton and B.B. King.
Joining Bauder in the high-energy performance will be the rest of the five-member band. Rounding out the combo are Jim Phiffer on guitar, Pat ‘PY’ Young on slide guitar, Allen Howell on bass guitar, and Andy Shafer on drums.
Although this will be the first year the band has performed at Main Street LIVE!, they aren’t new to the performance scene. The Murfreesboro-based band, formed four years ago, are regulars at local venues.
The Boomers are baby boomers, hence the name.
‘We are five guys from five different walks of life, yet with the common love of playing music,’ said Bauder. ‘Some think because you’re our age with busy careers and families, that the whole being-in-a-band thing should be part of your past. No way!’
He added, ‘We have an absolute blast playing together and I think that’s very evident in our stage presentation. People coming to the Boomers show should come expecting to let their hair down, dance, sing along and just have a great time.’
Everyone is encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy The Boomers at 7 p.m. on the West Lawn of Security Federal. Food and beverage vendors are open at 6 p.m.
Main Street LIVE! summer concert series is a production of Main Street McMinnville. The events are free due to sponsorship by Dr Pepper, River Park Hospital, the Law Offices of Galligan and Newman, Tennessee Arts Commission, Ben Lomand TV, Clear Channel Radio, and the Southern Standard, your source for local news.
